Allison's Mermaid Birthday Party

Allison had her 5th birthday party tonight. She wanted a mermaid party and that is exactly what she got. We played games, opened gifts, and ate yummy food. Thanks to the Winn's and Mitchell's for joining us to celebrate Alli turning 5.
Out of all the food that was served at Alli's party the oyster cookies were my favorite. The cookies were lemon and so yummy, not to mention adorable. They turned out better than I had envisioned. We also had Salty Sea Water (blue Gatorade), Sea Weed Pasta (long wavy noodles with pesto), Mermaid fruit (grapes), Tuna and Sea Shell Casserole (tuna noodle casserole), and a bowl full of Fishies (pretzel and Parmesan goldfish crackers). Oh Yes and cupcakes of course!
Here is a glimpse of party preparations. I love planning parties it brings me such happiness.

Here is Allison sporting her mermaid tail. I love the picture where she is "swimming".

Digging for mermaids treasures was a big hit. They could find sea shells, blue glass beads, pearls, and gold coins. I should have gotten more gold coins they seemed to be the favorite.

We also had a ring toss and bean bag toss game. Most of the kids were better at it than me.

I love watching kids open presents they are all so excited. Allison loved her new scooter, she told everyone what is was before she even opened it...stinker. She also got a fun purse she gets to color herself and the original Fancy Nancy book. We have almost all of the Fancy Nancy books except that one so it was perfect.

I just love the picture of Allison with Haylee and Sydney. They are such cute friends.

The kids loved riding on the cart when Ben was taking stuff back to our apartment so I had to get a picture. And of course Ruth with her boys was just to cute to not take a picture of. I wish I had John's energy I could get so much accomplished.
Happy Birthday to my sweet Allison!

Projects

I made this little pirate as a birthday gift for a friends son. When I was taking his picture Allison informed since he is a pirate he should have his picture taken on a ship. The pirate ship is something the girls made at Lowe's, so since we have a ship I think I may have to make the girls some pirates of their own to man the ship. Ben is headed to Philadelphia next week to the Barbershop Harmony Society International singing competition. He told me about an idea he had for a t-shirt so I designed what he described to me. We figured it would be pricey to just make one shirt at a screen printing place so I tried to create it on my own. This is my practice run to see if I could do it. The next step is to recreate this on a shirt.
Eat. Sleep. Barbershop.

Dalmation Dancer

This is a video of Allison's dance recital. She is the 4th kid(3rd girl puppy) from the left. I may be biased but I think she did such a great job...she didn't even get nervous.

Instead of doing homework...

I spent some time creating these lovely ladies for Alli's birthday party. I will be using these on her invites, cupcake toppers, and for decoration. Now I need to finish my research paper so I can spend some more time planning Alli's mermaid party.

Preschool Graduation

Today was Allison last day of preschool...ever...She will be in kindergarten in the fall I can't believe she is that old! I got to spend some time at Alli's preschool today for their graduation party. It was fun for me to see which teachers absolutely adored her even though when I am around she is painfully shy. Her two favorite teachers this year were both named Tammy and
I am sure she will miss them so much. Here is a group shot of all the teachers and kids... Allison's preschool was at the local high school so she had lots of high school students as her teachers as well as the regular preschool teachers.
These kids had at least 20 people taking their pictures at this moment...they were troopers.

Emma was excited to give big hugs to her graduate sister. Allison put on her best shy face walking up to the principle to get her diploma. I enjoyed the principals comments on how the preschoolers where doing a better job walking in a line then the Seniors will do next week when they graduate.

Here are some of Allison's buddies from preschool. We had to include a picture of Tammy since she was a favorite. And Jonah who adores Allison...look how he put his arm around her for the picture!

This is how Allison writes her name now and the picture is what she drew at preschool today. I said "Allison we don't have a baby in our family" and she said "yeah I know but that's the only way I know how to draw Emma!" And just in case you were wondering the line that is drawn above my head is the back of the baby sling...I thought I was jump roping...Allison informed me jump roping with a baby isn't safe. :)

It's a super day!

I was up last night taking care of a sick Emma and I kept running through my to-do list and wondering when I would get it all done. Well this morning Emma is still sick so I didn't take Allison to preschool and the girls are having a lazy morning watching a movie. While thay have been resting I have been busy painting to try and check these cute little guys off my list. My moms kindergarten class's theme this year is Super Heros so I am making each kid their own super hero peg person. Last year I did cowboys, I wonder what next year will be?

Our Friends the Eberhards

See these cute babies... Well they are growing up! Allison and Logan were born one day apart. Logan and his parents were leaving the hospital as I was getting ready to deliver Allison. Logan's parents Karen and Loren were good friends back in our college days in Rexburg, Idaho. This weekend they came to San Diego on vacation and we were so thrilled to see them. I can't believe how much our babies have grown. And now we both have 2 little ones...crazy how grown up we have become.
Can you feel the sibling love in this picture?!?!?

We spent Friday at Sea World with the Eberhards it was lots of fun showing them all of our favorite
things. We got to see the polar bears being fed, they actually got in the water. We also saw some baby sea turtles and the Shamu show was the best I have seen in awhile. Hopefully it won't be another4 years before we see the Eberhard family again. It was so much fun catching up!

101 Dalmations

Allison's got her costume today for her dance recital. They are dancing to a 101 Dalmatian song and I think it is going to be adorable. Doggie Pose
This is Allison showing me her dancer pose.

Emma Loves to Read

Emma made herself a bed on my floor and she was reading to herself while I was doing school work. This is how I found her...That book must have worn her out, but been to good to put down.
