My Little Ballerina

Allison FINALLY started ballet today. She has waited a long time for this day and I must say she looked so cute. The parents had to wait outside the studio during class but I got a few picture through the blinds. It amazes me what Allison will do when I am not around, she was such a ham dancing around. I am excited she gets to do something that is just for her.

What a beautiful day

My new friends Jenni and Courtney invited me and the girls to go on a walk and have a picnic. It was a gorgeous day in the Pacific North West and we had so much fun. The kids played ring around the rosie and threw rocks in the lake. I love watching children play outside they are always so happy and fascinated by every thing we adults take for granted.

Here come the Salmon!

I don't know why I am so fascinated by these semi-ugly fish but I am . I love the fall when they make their voyage up stream. This isn't the best picture but you get the idea. Allison loved watching the fish she kept saying "I see them! They are laying their eggs...see the eggs mom?" I didn't see the eggs of course but at least she listened to my story about how Salmon swim up river and lay eggs.

Bedtime Storytime

The girls and I went to story time at the library last night. They got to wear their jammies and take their stuffed animals along. Before we left Allison wrapped up her lamb and was bouncy her around trying to put her to sleep...it was cute to watch her do exactly what I do to put Emma to sleep. Then in the middle of Story time Allison jumped up and ran over to me handing me the lambs blanket and said "she's awake now!"

Doughnuts

Today Allison and I made Whole Wheat Doughnuts. I even ground my own wheat flour! (something about that gives me great joy) And instead of making regular doughnut shapes I decided to use my alphabet cookie cutters. I'm really into the alphabet lately apparently since I just finished painting alphabet rocks! Anyways the doughnuts turned out looking great and they were pretty yummy. Allison loved them of course and was hogging all the letters so I couldn't spell anything out.

Friends

On Friday night I got to spend some time with two of my best friends Amanda & Danica. We made cupcakes and as you can see by the photo Emma really wanted one...She was trying to eat it while we taking the picture!

Emma Stole Grandma's Ice Cream

Ready for Halloween Already

Allison loves wearing this hat because of the hair. Here is one of our recent conversations while she was wearing the hat...
Mom: Allison it is time to get dressed.
Allison: I'm not Allison, I am Ariel!
Mom: Ok well it still time to get dressed.
Allison: You have to say Ariel it is time to get dressed!

Rockin and Rollin

Emma will stand up while she rocks or hold on with one hand while she waves with the other. Maybe she is practicing to be a rodeo queen. She has fallen off doing this but she just climbs right back on and does it again...way to get back on the horse Emma!

Squeeze!

Bowling Pin Cupcakes

I recently got a new cupcake book and I decided to try out the bowling pin cupcakes. Mine didn't turn out as good as the ones in the book (mine are squattier) but still cute for my first attempt.

Muffin Tin Friday

YES I know it is supposed to be Muffin Tin Monday but that didn't work for us this week so we had our muffin tin lunch on Friday. We had Tacos, veggies w/ ranch, peaches, & Soy Milk. And the star bead was exchanged for a treat when Alli was all finished.

Cupcakes and Cocoa

I was invited by some other mom's to go to Common Ground which is a cupcake & Coffee shop. They have toys for the kids and yummy cupcakes...the hot chocolate was pretty great too. It is just a few blocks from my house and now that I know about I may be in trouble...I love cupcakes!

Good Deal

I LOVE finding a good deal on anything. A few days ago I took the girls to Value Village to get some pillowcases and I stumbled upon 2 pairs of maryjane crocs that are Allison's size. Alli loves crocs but they are $25 a pair so she has only had one pair which she grew out of. Both pair are in good shape I just shined them up with croc butter and they are good as new. And the best part is I got both pair for under $6...I love a good deal!
Now the cat is also from our Value Village shopping adventure...it was a cat shaped cutting board but now it is our pretty painted feline friend. Allison loves to paint so I love finding cheap wooden things for her to express her creativity on. Besides the nose , mouth, and ears she painted it herself.

Pillow Case Painting

On Friday we had some little friends over to paint. We chose to paint pillow cases and we used toy shapes, carrots, apples, and cars to create some beautiful designs. The kids also did some water color painting and a little painting of themselves as well. Thanks to all of our friends who came to paint and please come again!

Fun at the park

We went to a wonderful park near our home...the girls loved it. It was especially great because Ben got to come with us. Emma wants to be a big kid so badly and Allison never wants to leave the park. When we were walking in the parking Lot Allison saw a family that had dark skin, I am not sure what ethnicity they were, but she said "mom those are the brownest people I have ever seen!" I love how kids just tell it like it is. This morning Allison told me I looked pretty and then she said that her grandma was pretty too. Then I asked who was prettier me or grandma? Well congrats Grandma apparently you are "the most beautiful!"

Lake Washington

Last week we stumbled upon a park right on Lake Washington and its just down the street from our house. Allison loved walking on the docks and we even saw the guy from Evening Magazine filming. I love the picture of Allison's little hand saying I love you! She does this alot in the car she will say "mom look in your mirror" and I will see her big grin as she holds up her sign language I Love You.

What a girl!

I love this picture of Allison it was taken at her little friends birthday party, I think it perfectly captures her cuteness and innocence. I have to admit that lately Allison has been rather challenging...she has so many emotions that just come spewing out in less than pleasing ways. So we are working on giving her positive ways to channel her emotions. Besides that I can't say enough wonderful things about my sweet little girl. She has a wonderful imagination, she is creative and has a fabulous vocabulary. Compassion oozes out of her sometimes like when Emma was getting shots the second she started crying Allison gave Emma her toy and started stroking her little hand. She is full of funny sayings and she loves to copy everything I do, today she came up to me and said "here's the deal...this is my list!" and then she continued to show me the list she had scribbled out. For those of you who don't know me that well I make lists all the time and I frequently say "OK here's the deal." I am so grateful that I get to have Allison as my daughter she brings so much joy into my life and I learn from her everyday. I can't wait to see the woman she will become.

My Baby is One!

I can't believe my baby is one...wow! Emma is such a darling little girl I love watching her grow. I can't help but smile every time she looks at me she just radiates happiness. Every time we go shopping people always comment on how happy she is. If only all of us could be as happy as my Emma.

This picture and those in the post below were taken by my wonderful sister. I am sad these will be the last ones she takes of my family for awhile. ( I miss you Jo!)

Happy Grandparents Day!

We love all of our wonderful grandparents and we hope you had an extra special day today. I asked Allison to draw a picture of her grandpa and grandma and here is what she came up with. Pretty cute I think.

Learning to write

A few days ago I was teaching Allison how to write a few letters she seemed to do ok with a little bit of help. Tonight when I was busy with Emma Allison sat at the table and did this. She didn't have any help but she did such a great job writing her A. Now I am not sure if she used the correct form...like starting at the top but still I was impressed! I think the circular one at the right side is her O.

Just to let you all know I am starting to post on crafty kidlets again. So if you want the directions for the batik from my previous post you can get it there!

Batik

I of course did the swirls and Allison did the other one, she tells me it's a whale...I can see that!

Our Backyard

Re-purposing my Dishwasher

In our house there is a dishwasher but it is one that you have to roll over to your sink and hook it up every time you want to use it...I think not! So instead of washing dishes it holds all my stationary stuff...pens, pencils, tape, paper, scissors, etc. And the top of it has pictures and my Kitchenaid mixer on it.
