Max & Ruby

Emma LOVES Max & Ruby! She always pics out the books at the library and she likes their Little videos too. She has started singing the song that is on the cartoon...it is so cute. We found a stuffed Max the other day and had to get him for Emma...they have been inseparable ever since. Emma is going to be Ruby for Halloween and take Max with her. He even came to church one week and we had to make him a tie so he would be in his Sunday best.

Good Bye Off white carpet....

Hello Hardwood!
The girls helped roll up the old carpet...well just long enough to get a picture and discover it wasn't that much fun...then they left it up to daddy!

Stippling Take 1

I wanted to try my hand at stippling and quilting other designs other than straight lines so this is what I have been working on. It is NOT perfect but it was great practice and lots of fun. Stippling is kinda tricky but it is fun and I love the way it looks. The brown minky fabric is actually much darker than it appears in the pictures it matches the dark brown on the quilt top. Now that I am finished with the quilting process now its time to learn how to do a real binding and finish it by hand...wish me luck!

A tribute to moms

When we lived in San Diego the first time we had the pleasure of knowing the Allen family. Linn, the wife and mother of this family was truly wonderful. She is involved with a wonderful project called 5000 Moms and there website launches tomorrow. She created this video as a tribute to moms and I thought I would share it. My girls loved watching it because they were surprised by seeing themselves in it...can you find us?

Fast Day Photos

My cousin and his wife do this really cool thing where they take a picture of their girls every fast Sunday (which is the first Sunday of the month). Then they have a record of how their girls change month to month. Since I thought their idea was great I thought I would adopt it and use it with our girls. Since this was the first week and my girls LOVE the camera there are multiple pictures of both girls but in the future I will try to narrow it down to one!
So here are our Fast Day Photos for September 2009...

Out of the mouth of ALLI

As I was pouring Allison something to drink she asked..."how many nutrients are in that?".... "like a million?"
Then we had watched a video about Nephi and the Brass plates and later she asked "can we watch the bra's plates again?"

Getting Creative with Shaving Cream

Who knew that so much fun could come from one small can? Ok I did but it still amazed me:)

Emma was still loving the shaving cream even after Alli was finished. She kept rubbing it all over her face...good thing it was sensitive skin, but eventually I had to end her fun and get her cleaned up.

Thoughts from a 4year old

as she is licking her arm........"I am salty,I taste good!" ok so thats a little weird/gross/funny but it just goes to show you that it is hot and if it doesn't cool down we are going to be so sweaty and salty that Allison is going to start eating her own arm. :)

My Goal

To read all of our children's books to my children in the next two weeks.

Why?
1. Because I need to read more to my children in general.
2. To decide which books we like and must keep and which books can find new homes.
3. To organize them in a way I can find the book I want when I want it.

Wicked

Last week Ben and I got to go see Wicked and it was amazing! I loved it and it made me remember how much I love theater. We have the soundtrack and Allison is starting to sing the songs wherever we go. We were in the grocery store and she started singing..."one short day in the emerald city..."
My friend Jenn's daughter also saw it a few weeks ago and she loves it so much I thought I would make Sydney her very own Wicked bag. Man can I just say freezer paper is amazing...also amazing is the fact that the bag only cost me 38 cents( I love clearnace sales.).I think the bag turned out great and I think miss Sydney liked it too.

My Home...A photographic experience by: Allison Smurthwaite

Allison asked if she could take a picture with my camera...I was busy cooking so I said sure. The above pictures are the pictures she took. I think it is interesting what she chose to photograph in our home...Artwork, Quilts, Books, Cozy pillows, drawing paper, herself...all things I love!
