Randomness from the past week

Allison went to Space Day at her Grandma's school...more picture to come.
Me and Emma playing with the camera...she loves all things with buttons and lights!

This is how I found Allison the other day. She informed me she was reading Twilight and that she loved it...Maybe someday in the distant future we can read this book together but for now we are sticking to children's books.

Emma says "coat" now...it sounds more like "coke". She loves having jackets or coats on and she always wants to go bye-bye.

Carousel

Allison has been asking me (frequently) to go ride the carousel at the Super Mall so last weekend we went. Allison loved it we let her ride twice so she could get her fill. Also while we were there we went to say hi to the Easter Bunny Alli thought that was great but when the Easter bunny looked at Emma she started screaming...good thing we hadn't planned on getting pictures!

Babysitting Sadie!

We watched Sadie last week and my girls had so much fun! Emma loved looking at books with her and when I told her to smile for a picture she sat on Sadie's lap...but Sadie didn't seem to mind. Allison loved being a little mommy and she even wanted Sadie to play the violin
while she practiced...so cute!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Turns 40!

To celebrate this great books birthday we had some friends over for a tea party. I made a caterpillar and all of the food he eats so the kids could help act out the story.

I also made a table runner out of some adorable Very Hungry Caterpillar fabric. We ate fruit kabobs, little smokies, chocolate cake, cheese, and had some apple juice as our tea.

After the yummy food we played The Very Hungry Caterpillar board game. It was a little long for our busy kiddos so we played by our own rules.

Then we played dress up...aren't these kids adorable.

Marshmallow Mischief

I heard Emma say aw-oh yesterday and I walked into the kitchen to find this. She had spilled a whole bag of marshmallows and they were eating as many as they could while I was hurrying to pick them up.

Emma loves shoes...she looks so cute in these shoes even with such a dirty little face.

My Little Artist

Ben got Allison some dry erase markers for her easel...she loves them. Emma loves them too but she likes to decorate the kitchen walls. This is Alli's rendition of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

And this is Cowboy Ernie...last week we visited my moms school where she had arranged for this awesome entertainer, Ernie Sites to come to her school. He does rope tricks, sings, yodels, and tells about the old west. Alli really loved it she always requests his music in the car now.

Very Hungry Caterpillar...take one

March 20th is the 40th Anniversary of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We are planning to have Lauren and Abby over for a tea party and to play games and read lots of Eric Carle books. I wanted to make a very hungry caterpillar and this is my first attempt (it might be my last since it looks pretty cute!) Now I am going to make food cutouts that this little guy can "eat" through...then the girls can help act out the story at their tea party.

I Ain't Gonna Paint No More

Today we did lots of painting at our house. Emma reminded me of the book " I Ain't Gonna Paint No More" because she just kept painting herself.
I love this picture, you can just see how fascinated she is by the paint.

We ended up painting ceramic dinosaurs and doing some water colors. The water color session ended when Emma spilled the water everywhere while trying to drink it...yuck! I am sure we will be painting again soon practice makes perfect right?!?!?

Museum of Flight

Yesterday we went to the Museum of Flight with my moms Kindergarten class. There were so many amazing planes.

Allison got her chance to ride in a small airplane...every time we drive past the local airport she always asks when we are going to ride on one of the little planes.

Allison liked making her own plane and she even got to pretend to be a plane and deliver some mail. Her new favorite word is fuselage.

Allis' favorite plane was the shark I liked the one that was 3 wings high. The picture of my mom and Alli in the hot air balloon basket is a keeper since my mom is very afraid of heights.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Here are the kiddos in their Seuss-ish attire ready to party!Even the adults dressed up...I love this picture of Cali and I think I need a pair of striped tights like Jenni. I am sad I didn't get a picture of Jana and Cortney...Cortney took most of these photos so she was always behind the camera...Thanks for that!We played pin the green egg on the platter. We used the striped hat as our blindfold.

The kids listened to Dr. Seuss stories and played with balloons. I love the picture of Allison patting Sadie's back it is sweet.

The cake took forever to make but I think it was worth it. It really should have 1 more red layer but it was getting large and unstable so I stopped at 4 layers.

We also had green eggs and Ham...it took some convincing to get the kids to eat it but once they tried it they loved it. Also Jenni made blue jello with Swedish fish in it, thanks!

Here are Jenni and Sadie, they are so adorable together. Sadie is lucky to have such a great mommy!

We had lots of fun and since I have all the decorations now I am sure we will do this again...I will have to think of another great cake idea....hmmmm?!?!?!

Preparing for a Party

Today is Dr. Seuss's birthday and we have spent all weekend preparing for his party. We made decorations galore, painted shirts, and dug out all our Dr. Seuss books. We created games and invited lots of friends, we even baked a huge cake. Allison asked if she could wait by the door for Dr. Seuss...I had to explain he wasn't coming it was just a party in his honor kind of like a Thank you for writing such fun crazy books. I will post lots of pictures of the fun we had at the party later but these pictures are of all our preparations.
