Kid's Quest Children's Museum

My Favorite pictures

Look at the racoon kissing Allison's hand it is so cute! To bad Racoons aren't really that cute they are gross little poopers!

Apple Fries

If you have been to Legoland you probably know what apple fries are and if you haven't I am sure you can imagine what they might be. Yesterday I tried my hand at making apple fries and I think they turned out quite well! So here is how I made them for any of you who want to give them a try...

1.Peel and core a granny smith apple.

2. Cut into your favorite fry shapes.

3. Coat apples in cornstarch..shake off excess.

4. Fry in oil for 2-3 minutes.

5. Drain on paper towel and then sprinkle with Cinnamon and sugar

WAIT don't eat them yet!

6. Put some whipped cream in a bowl and sprinkle nutmeg over it.

NOW dip them in the whipped cream and eat them...before I do!

Preschool Field Trip (part 1)

This week in preschool we will be learning about apples so we took a field trip...first we went raspberry picking (which has nothing to do with apples but still very tasty!) here are some pictures from part one of our adventure.
All the kids just wanted to eat the berries, so we let them watch a movie in the car for part of the time so we could actually pick enough berries to take home. Surprisingly Allison had quite a few berries in her bucket.
Our little preschoolers ready for part 2 ...apple picking!

Preschool Field Trip (part 2)

Apple Picking & Mud
After raspberry picking and a little lunch we grabbed our buckets and headed for the apple orchards at Terry's Berries. We got to pick jonagold apples...they were yummy! Allison helped me very carefully put each apple in the bucket she is such a good helper when she wants to be. All the kids had fun riding in the cart and seeing the chickens but hands down the highlight of the day was playing in the mud!

Poor Allison... she wasn't a fan of the mud. My sweet little girl likes to stay clean...but towards the end she had both feet in. She would stick one foot at a time and test it out, it was fun to watch her look at the other kids like they were crazy! My favorite picture is the one of Payton with and eyeful of mud..compliments of Sophia. It was way more fun watching the kids have a blast in the mud then spending the whole day telling them to stay out of the mud. Special thanks to Jenni for getting in the mud with Alli.

These are the after pictures...what some cute messy kids!

Apple Shirts

These are the shirts I made for Allison and her little preschool buddies for our Apple picking field trip. Next week I am in charge of the lesson and I am doing apples so I thought this would be fun...plus I wanted to finally try freezer paper stencils...I may be addicted now!

My Tribute to Salmon

This is my tribute to Salmon! It isn't dry yet in the picture but I had a moment to blog so you will have to imagine what it will look like dry. Allison helped me collect red leaves yesterday on our walk to the library so I used them for the salmon's red body. Allis was supposed to help me with this project but she was busy gluing acorns to everything (paper, table cloth, place mat...good thing Elmer's glue doesn't dry to quickly!) I looked at several Salmon picture sand this is no where near accurate especially the face...Salmon are kind of scary looking up close, so this is my semi-happy non scary salmon!

Salmon Days

We had our first experience at Salmon Days today. We went with a bunch of friends the Teeples, Warners & Cooks we are so blessed to have met such wonderful people since we have moved here to Renton.
The morning started off with a parade, bagels & Jamba juice! The girls seemed to like the floats and all the bands. During the parade it didn't rain so that was a bonus. My favorite moments from the parade were 1. Payton called the cheerleaders the Chili-people 2.Allison noticed she and the other kids were being photographed and she moved to the front of the picture. 3. All the kids groovin to the music.
After the parade it started to rain which was a bummer but I finally got to try out my rain cover for my stroller...it is fabulous! The kids stayed cozy and warm...Ben wishes he would have stayed cozy and warm. Since it was Salmon Days we headed over to the salmon hatchery and watched the Salmon they are pretty amazing but kind of ugly. Earlier this week I taught Allison a little about Salmon like what baby Salmon are called (Frys). She said "like french fries? Can I eat them?" She also can list several kinds of Salmon her favorites are pink but she also knows about coho and sockeye...which she calls socks!
When we had our fill of watching the Salmon swim up the ladder we headed for the food, nothing like corn on the cob mine and Allison's favorite. We also rode the train and decorated a pumpkin but the rain wasn't letting up so we finally called it a day. We had lots of fun Thanks Teeples family for sharing a special tradition with us.

New Outfit!

Allison got a new outfit when we went to the Super Mall earlier this week. She asks to wear it every day I finally had to say no so I could wash it. Doesn't she look cute? I love that she will actually wear the hat.
